THE MIRACLES AND MILLIONS SAGA
Two minds, two bodies, two hearts, one soul.
Avarice Welcome to the first nibble of the giant cookie that is the extraordinary journey of Dorothy Lyle from unknown single parent to household name. A journey in ten parts that propels her out of her self-imposed lonely state into a love affair that defies all human limits.
About Book 1
On the day that Dorothy Lyle turns forty she is still single and living a boring, routine existence of a nine-to-five life. This has never been part of her great life plan, and is a niggling and constant source of frustration.
That all changes, along with her life, forever, when she unexpectedly wins a fortune on the lottery and is suddenly propelled into the realms of the super-rich elite. Everything that money can buy suddenly comes within reach for her.
And while Dorothy likes the idea of being rich beyond her wildest dreams, she soon finds that it will bring its own set of problems. A set of problems compounded by her unique and amazing ability.
In the old days when she had been just plain old Dorothy, it had been easy to hide her psychic powers. But now, rich beyond belief, it’s going to be so much harder. When her dreams and visions start to become more vivid and frightening than usual, she wonders if any amount of money can protect her from her own gifts.
Since the age of nineteen she has been aware that a shadowy presence travels with her. This being provides solace and protection whenever the going gets tough, yet seldom provides a straightforward answer to her questions. What do the dreams and visions mean, and why does one particular strange and dangerous man keep appearing to her? The universe is talking to Dorothy, but is she ready to listen?

Dorothy Lyle in Avarice Book 1 of the Miracles and Millions Saga eBook Ella Carmichael
I don’t usually read books by non-American authors, but downloaded this novel on a whim when I followed a link. I have never been to Ireland, and the only books I have previously read about the country were of an historical nature, covering the famine years and subjects of that nature. I was fascinated by the glimpse the novel provided into modern day society, and how the global crash of 2008 really brought the country to its knees, fiscally speaking.Dorothy, the heroine of the story, is a powerful clairvoyant, and a bit of a nutter to boot. I got used to her mad ways after a couple of chapters, and actually began to look forward to her next vision. I was secretly relieved that she dreamed about an American guy, as it made me feel more at home. I am hoping that he will become the love interest as the series progresses! Sad I know, but I like what I like.
The other thing I really liked about the story was Dorothy’s family’s reaction to her unexpected good fortune. The assumption that she should be willing to be an ATM for them all was incredibly resonant of my own dear family’s occasionally bad behaviour, and I actually went back and read one or two chapters a second time just to enjoy the full impact.
There is something very different about this series, and I intend to download the second novel and see how things progress for the crazy little Irish chick and her millions.

Dorothy Lyle in Avarice Book 1 of the Miracles and Millions Saga eBook Ella Carmichael Reviews
A very enjoyable entertaining read from this unknown Irish author. The heroine of the story is a woman called Dorothy who is not only psychic but also something of a crazy woman. I got so used to her by the end of the novel, I genuinely didn’t want it to end. It was as if she was the normal one and everybody else was mad. Dorothy is a class act and made me chuckle at inappropriate moments. One morning I even burst out laughing on the bus on the way to work! Carmichael has been blessed with the gift of entertainment and I am looking forward to the rest of the series.
This story had every element a good story should have. An exciting plot, attention to detail, but best of all fleshed out, well-written and well-rounded character development. There’s an abundance of well illustrated scenes that really make you feel like you are right there in the story, and that's something I really look for in a good book.
This absorbing and attention-grabbing work had me engaged from the beginning. The story flows from scene to scene s effortlessly, and the author shows exceptional ability when it comes to storytelling. It's a story that's well constructed and the pace is very good.
It’s one of those rare stories that come along that makes you want to read it non-stop until you get to the end. I’m giving nothing further away here. And this, I hope, will only add to the mystery! This is well worth the read and I'd highly recommend it. I’ll certainly be looking forward to reading more from Ella Carmichael in the future!
I absolutely loved this book! What a really nice absorbing story. Dorothy Lyle starts out as a nineteen year old who falls pregnant and insists on marrying the father of her baby. Her unhappy parents try to dissuade her but she is determined and so in love with her lover. She soon realises her mistake. She gives birth to twins. He treats her with disdain. He gives her nothing and gets involved with numerous other women. She stops caring but starts preparing to escape. She manages to obtain qualifications, pass her driving licence, buy a car and park it in a neighbour's driveway, and save enough money to escape.
Years later the twins are at university and she is working, struggling to cope financially. A work colleague buys her a lotto ticket at the railway station. She is stunned to discover that she has won the biggest payout yet, leaving her a multi-millionaire. She generously shares her new-found wealth with family and friends, telling the twins last. She invests in herself too, losing weight and replacing her wardrobe with new beautiful clothes. She has these "visions" which guide her purchases of properties. The book's called "Avarice," so we see the family and friends playing her for even more money. Even her son thinks he is clever when he manages to extricate enough money from his mother for two mini-coopers, one for him and one for his friend. She tries to control how much she is spending, but manipulative friends and family gradually siphon more money out of her. Through it all, she seems to be a non-practising Christian while strongly believing in chakras, crystals and occult/new-age related activities. I can't wait to read more after finding this first novel to be a deeply satisfying long read. Excellent! Strongly recommended despite her confused faith.
