Just Curious edition by Jude Deveraux Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I liked the book until I read the Epilogue. Suddenly a pretty cute story of an odd romance plunged into the abyss of sentimentality! She totally turned the entire feasible plot on its head with another subplot that "explained" all of the underlying motives of the "hero" which was absurd and unbelievable. I understand women wanting to read a romance novels enjoy the "fantasy" of how men dote on women ... that's why we read them because they DON'T... but this one went beyond believable. In fact, she made all of the "charms" of her heroine meaningless as she tried to explain not what was going to happen but why everything did happen according to HIS plan...really bad writing. She needs to remove the Epilogue or seriously rewrite it. VERY DISAPPOINTING. Ruined the story for me.
When I first read this book about 7 years back, I was going through a long spell of depression. I just got separated and due to my own failed marriage, I didn't have much faith in love and other emotions apart from anger and depression. Then I got my hands on some romance novels in English language (probably as a prologue I should've said that in my country the only books in foreign languages are available which are considered as classic and/or required for academic purposes. I think the huge popularity of Harry potter and twilight series among the young generation even in our country changed the booksellers' perception about modern foreign novels), one of them was holiday of love. I fell in love with all 4 short stories in the book along with the writers. Just curious was the first book in that anthology. I loved Karen because she was no simpering heroine, loved Mac because of his deep love for Karen. It should've seemed a cliche Boss-Secretary love story, but due to the author's ability to create strong, loving and witty protagonists, fun dialogues and fast moving storyline (it might be fair to add that I hadn't read any other boss secretary story at the time!) makes it a very enjoyable reading. I then read and re-read all of Jude Deveraux's books and loved all the same. JD's books are fun, the characters have strong sense of humor and the story never gets tiresome. Now that I have read quite a number of English-language novels including boss secretary romances and I still love reading Just Curious as much as I loved it the first time, I can't help but give it five stars! I read books only for fun and JD's books have a lot of it.
I initially check this out quick narrative many years ago, well before I had been in a critical romantic relationship, hitched, or possessed youngsters. rereading this narrative now for an grown-up is certainly a different experience! I saw at zero dark thirty this morning after my toddler woke me because she needed to use the potty that Just Curious was on sale for $.99 and immediately purchased it, as I read EVERYTHING Jude Deveraux writes. I devoured it. I really like how her heroines are these kinds of humorous, wise-asses. I wish I could possibly consider wise quips that way in the real world. I like the relationships and interactions the female heroes have with one other, plus the boisterous Taggert loved ones. If she ever wrote a story for his twin brother, MJ was a dream and I wonder. When you adhere to the Montgomery/Taggert storyline, the tale is that if a female can tell the difference between the quite identical twins (while they operate in the family), she is the partner of the twin. The other cool thing about reading this story as an adult is that when I first read it, I was a high school student in California. Now, I own a house in Northern Virginia (Tysons Area) is in fact my favorite mall in the area! Properly carried out, Jude. I laughed and i also smiled and the story made me really happy. For individuals who might repeat the scenario is out-of-date, how would you actually get pleasure from something that is just not establish in the present period of time? Reveals like Angry Men or films such as the Anchorman? I feel Jude performed a fantastic job covering an occasion time period in which women experienced not very did start to "Toned In" while they do these days. I would love to have that dialogue with my little girl when she actually is of sufficient age to read Jude's books someday.
